Hi, I'm Erik. I’m a San José State alum (B.S. in Biology, 2018) and currently work as a Program Manager, Spaceflight Projects for a NASA contractor, leading the development of next-generation spaceflight hardware and software systems. I am driven by a deep passion for creating solutions where sustainability and technology meet. My work lives at the intersection of innovation and impact - where cutting-edge systems aren’t just built to function, but to make a difference.
From supporting spaceflight biology missions with NASA to scaling sustainable infrastructure with Tesla, I’ve seen firsthand how thoughtful engineering can drive real-world change. I thrive in fast-paced, mission-driven environments, and I’m constantly seeking new ways to merge science, systems thinking, and technology to solve meaningful challenges.
Today, I lead cross-functional engineering teams across mechanical, electrical, software, and manufacturing disciplines - driving projects from early concept and proposal through system design, integration, and flight qualification.
Whether it’s building smarter, cleaner technologies or leading teams through complex technical challenges, my goal is simple: engineer a future that works better - for people and the planet.
Some of my notable achievements include:
- Led end-to-end development of spaceflight hardware and embedded systems for commercial space station applications, from concept through design, build, and verification
- Acted as a NASA Payload Developer supporting over 15 successful scientific research missions aboard the International Space Station
- Owned full proposal lifecycle efforts, including requirements definition, budgeting, scheduling, and risk analysis for complex aerospace programs
- Managed cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high-reliability, compliance-driven systems meeting strict NASA and commercial spaceflight standards
- Led system integration, V&V testing, and environmental qualification planning (EMI/EMC, thermal, vibration) for flight hardware
- Developed and sustained mission-critical software systems supporting spaceflight biological research and high-definition imaging platforms
- Maintained 99%+ uptime across Tesla’s North American charging network supporting 60,000+ charging stalls through operational and program leadership
Outside the Office
When I’m not at work, you can probably find me in my garage (or on the trail). I have a long-standing passion for the automotive world - from rebuilding engines to fine-tuning performance setups and off-road builds. It’s a hands-on outlet that keeps my technical instincts sharp and fuels my love for design, mechanics, and problem-solving on and off the road.
